Halloween at school and a special visit

This week we have been very busy. Children with their families have worked a lot to make terrific Jack-o-lanterns (decorated pumpkins) for our Halloween exhibition. In every class we have listened to stories and songs, and we have made our own minibooks to "scare" everyone at home. We have been very lucky because we have had a wonderful storyteller, Alison Ripley, who is a teacher from Manchester who has been with us for two days.

Teachers from Manchester

This week we have been very lucky. Three teachers from Manchester, Clare Higgins, Sue Ernest and Nadia Zylko, have visited our school for two days. We already knew one of them, Clare, who has been with us for the third time.

We have done many different activities with them. They told us the story of the "Five Little Ducks" and then we sang and performed the song.

We also sang the song "Head, shoulders, knees and toes". It was great fun!

In Year 4 we played a game called "Chinese whispers", in which we practised sentences to describe a person.

In Year 5 they read some great books about an amazing family, and we payed all our attention!

After that we had time to play one of our favourite games: "Simon says...". And also they taught us the song "Hokey Cokey".

We played two games in Year 2 to practise numbers. On the first one we made a "bridge" and the students had to go under it as we were counting. Then, a student was trapped when we have counted to the number the players on the bridge have thought.

On the second game, each student had to say either one, two or three numbers. The one who reached number ten was out.

In the rest of the classes, they were watching how we learn English and they congratulated us for how much English we know.

Thank you for your visit, and we really hope to see you again next year.
